Almost every battery failure we see traces back to one of those four.

Use the right charger, not the fastest one

The most common mistake is plugging a vape into a phone fast charger. A vape battery is small and its charging circuit is rated for a modest current; a high-output charger pushes more than it was designed to take, and heat is what shortens a battery’s life.

Use the cable supplied with the device, or a plain USB cable

Charge from a laptop port or a low-output adapter where you can

Avoid car chargers — the voltage is less stable, and the car is hot

Kuwait heat is the real risk

Lithium batteries hate heat, and this is where local conditions matter more than any general advice you will read.

A device left in a parked car can reach temperatures well beyond anything a battery is rated for. Charging one that is already hot compounds it. If your device has been in the car, bring it inside and let it come back to room temperature before plugging it in — twenty minutes is enough.

The same applies to charging in direct sun, on a windowsill, or on top of a laptop vent.

Do not charge overnight

Modern devices cut off at full charge, but the protection circuit is the last line of defence, not the first. Leaving a device plugged in for eight hours means any fault has eight unattended hours to develop.

Charge it while you are awake and in the room. Most pods take under an hour.

Never charge on soft surfaces

A bed, a sofa or a cushion traps heat around the device and blocks what little ventilation it has. Charge on a hard surface — a desk, a table, a tiled counter.

The warning signs that mean stop

Stop using the device immediately and bring it in if you see any of these:

A swollen or bulging body — the single most serious sign, and it never improves

Heat you cannot comfortably hold while charging

Any smell of chemicals or burning

A charging port that is loose, or wobbles when the cable is in

Charging that suddenly takes far longer than usual

A swollen battery should not be charged again, not even once. Do not puncture it and do not put it in household waste.

Habits that make a battery last

Do

Do not

Charge before it hits zero

Run it flat every time

Unplug at 100%

Leave it plugged in all day

Keep the port clean and dry

Charge with lint or liquid in the port

Store around half charge if unused

Store fully flat for weeks

Repeatedly draining a lithium battery to zero is what wears it out fastest. Topping up little and often is better for it than deep cycles.

Removable batteries in mods

If your device takes external 18650 or 21700 cells, two extra rules apply. Never use a cell with a torn or nicked wrap — retape it or replace it, because a bare cell touching metal in a pocket is a genuine hazard. And keep cells in pairs: never mix an old cell with a new one, or two different brands, in the same device.

Ask us before you replace anything

If a device is charging slowly or not holding charge, it is often the cable or the port rather than the battery. Bring it in and we will check it:

Salmiya branch: +965 5088 3667 — open 24 hours

Rigai branch: +965 5112 4370 — 8 am to 4 am

Browse vape devices and pod systems, or see how to order online and collect.

Most vape battery failures come from four habits: a cheap fast charger, charging overnight, charging in a hot car, and ignoring a swollen battery.
