In short: ice is the most popular flavour category in Kuwait, and for an obvious reason — most of the year, a cooling exhale is genuinely more pleasant. But “ice” covers three quite different sensations, and picking the wrong one is why some people find menthol harsh and others find it flat.
The three kinds of cool
| Type | What it does | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Menthol | Sharp, minty, hits the throat | Ex-smokers of menthol cigarettes |
| Koolada / WS-23 | Cold with almost no mint taste | Anyone wanting cold fruit, not mint |
| Mint | Herbal — spearmint or peppermint | People who dislike medicinal menthol |
This is the distinction worth knowing. When someone says “I want cold but I hate mint”, they want a koolada-based ice — the cooling agent adds temperature without adding flavour, so the fruit stays intact.
Which families work best with ice
- Berries — blue raspberry, strawberry, mixed berry. The most reliable pairing; tartness and cold work together.
- Melon and watermelon — the classic summer choice here, and forgiving all day.
- Mango and tropical — sweetness needs the cold to stop it cloying.
- Grape — consistently one of the strongest sellers in Kuwait, iced or not.
- Citrus — lemon and lime with ice; sharp, and a good palate reset.
- Plain menthol — no fruit at all. Underrated as an all-day flavour precisely because there is nothing to tire of.
How strong should the ice be?
Most ranges are not labelled by intensity, so this is worth asking about rather than guessing.
- Light ice — a cool finish, fruit still leads. The safest first purchase.
- Medium — noticeable cold throughout. Where most people settle.
- Extreme / double ice — genuinely cold enough to numb. Some love it; a lot of people cannot vape it all day.
Buy light or medium first. You can always go colder, but an extreme-ice 120 ml bottle you cannot finish is a waste.
Two practical notes
Ice masks a dying coil. The cooling sensation stays long after the flavour has faded, so you keep vaping a coil that is past its best and end up tasting burnt without warning. Judge coil life by the fruit, not the cold.
Ice is hard to wash out. Cooling agents cling to cotton and plastic. Going from an extreme ice to a delicate dessert without changing the coil will taste of neither.
Salt nic or freebase?
Ice exists in both, but they land differently. In salt nic, the cooling sharpens an already-present throat hit — good if you want it, harsh if you do not. In freebase at 3 mg, the cold is broader and softer.
Which one you can use is decided by your device, not preference — see salt nic vs freebase.
