JUUL Kuwait: JUUL2 vs the Original, and Which Pods Fit

JUUL2 versus the original JUUL: the two slim devices side by side with JUUL pods on a mint background

Last reviewed: September 2026

In short: JUUL is a closed pod system: a battery and a factory-filled pod you click in and draw from — no refilling and no coils to change. We carry two generations, and their pods do not swap: JUUL2 takes 1.2 ml pods at 18 mg, and the original JUUL takes 0.7 ml pods at 50 mg. The full range is here, all genuine and in stock at our Salmiya and Rigai branches.

Two generations — which one?

JUUL2 is the newer device. Its built-in battery is more than 20% larger than the first generation and lasts a full pod, and the pod itself carries 70% more flavour. Four lights on the face show battery level, flavour level and charging status at a glance, and the device pairs with a phone app for tracking use and locking the device.

The JUUL Device USB Charger Kit is the first-generation set: a button-free device that fires on the draw, 87.2 mm long and 15.1 mm wide, with a 350 mAh battery, a single indicator light and its magnetic charger included in the box.

Both work the same way — click in a pod and draw. The real difference is in the pod, and that is what should decide your choice.

The difference in one table

  JUUL2 Original JUUL
Pod capacity 1.2 ml 0.7 ml
Nicotine strength 18 mg/ml 50 mg/ml (5%)
Pods per pack 2 4
Puffs Not stated by the maker About 200 per pod
Indicators 4 lights plus an app A single light
Flavours we stock Crisp Menthol · Polar Menthol · Virginia Tobacco Menthol · Virginia Tobacco

Worth knowing: first-generation pods are 50 mg while JUUL2 pods are 18 mg. Moving from the original device to JUUL2 will feel noticeably lighter on nicotine — that is how the newer generation is designed, not a fault in the device.

Pods — which pod fits which device

This is the most important point on the page, and the most common mistake we see:

The two pods differ in size and contacts, so one will not sit in place of the other even where the shape looks similar. The newer device also recognises an incompatible pod and refuses it.

The flavours, and how they differ

  • Crisp Menthol — a clean, direct mint with no sweetness and no fruit, finishing on a light ice. Suits anyone who wants one clear taste all day.
  • Polar Menthol — the same menthol family with a stronger ice that arrives faster and lingers after the draw. The summer choice.
  • Virginia Tobacco (JUUL2) — a warm, dry classic tobacco with no added sweetness and no ice. The closest thing here to traditional tobacco.
  • Menthol (first generation) — pure mint with a fresh ice and a clean finish.
  • Virginia Tobacco (first generation) — a smoother tobacco with a light natural sweetness and no dry burn.

Compatibility — read this before ordering

Before ordering a replacement pod, confirm three things in this order:

  1. The generation — is your device a JUUL2 or the original? The pod in your hand tells you: a pack of 2 means JUUL2, a pack of 4 means the first generation.
  2. The strength — 18 for JUUL2, 50 for the original.
  3. The flavour by its exact name — there are two different menthols in the JUUL2 line (Crisp and Polar) and they are easy to confuse.

The easiest route: photograph the old pod or its box and send it on WhatsApp — we will identify the exact match from the JUUL range or the pods and coils section.

How to tell a genuine JUUL pod

There is no magic trick, but there are practical signs:

  • The pack is factory-sealed and has not been opened before you — JUUL pods arrive sealed, and each pod is closed around its own flavour and coil.
  • The pod count matches the generation — 2 for JUUL2, 4 for the original. Any other count is a question mark.
  • The printed specification matches the capacity and strength: 1.2 ml / 18 for JUUL2, 0.7 ml / 50 for the original.
  • The JUUL2 device itself rejects an incompatible pod through its built-in recognition — the clearest signal you can get in your own hand.
  • Where you bought it — buy from a shop you know and can go back to. That one matters most.

Getting more life out of a pod

  • Do not chain-draw — leave a few seconds between puffs
  • Store it upright, not inverted, and never in a hot car
  • An opened pod has a shelf life — do not stock more than about a month of use
  • If the taste changes or the vapour weakens, it is time to swap, not time to pull harder

Frequently asked questions

Do JUUL2 pods fit the original JUUL device?

No. Each generation has its own pod and they do not swap, even where the shape looks similar. The JUUL2 device also recognises an incompatible pod and refuses it.

What is the difference between JUUL2 and the original JUUL?

A JUUL2 pod holds 1.2 ml at 18 mg and comes 2 to a pack; an original pod holds 0.7 ml at 50 mg and comes 4 to a pack. The JUUL2 device has a larger battery, four indicator lights and an app, while the first generation has a single light and a magnetic charger in the box.

Which strength suits me — 18 or 50?

50 mg is stronger and closer to a cigarette, and it is the strength of the first-generation pods. 18 mg is lighter, and it is the strength of JUUL2 pods. Moving from the original to JUUL2, you will feel the difference clearly.

How many pods are in a JUUL pack?

A JUUL2 pack contains 2 pods; an original JUUL pack contains 4.

How long does a JUUL pod last?

An original pod gives about 200 puffs. JUUL2 has no figure published by the maker, but its pod holds 1.2 ml against 0.7 ml. In practice it depends on daily use — when the taste changes or the vapour weakens, it is time to swap.

How do I know a pod is genuine?

Check that the pack is factory-sealed, that the pod count matches the generation (2 for JUUL2, 4 for the original), and that the printed capacity and strength match the specification. The JUUL2 device itself rejects an incompatible pod. Most important of all: buy from a shop you know and can go back to.
